All women at Shepherd of the Hills are members of WELCA and are invited to participate in all WELCA activities. They sponsor small groups, Bible studies, circles and ministries that are open to all women. WELCA is a community of women committed to praying, studying the Bible, growing spiritually, and maturing in faith.

WELCA supports a number of service projects and programs at the church. WELCA plans special events throughout the year including: Preparing Our Hearts for Lent, Prayer Shawl/Blanket Ministry, a Spring Tea and an Advent Dinner.

The WELCA Board meets on a monthly basis. Some of the members attend synod sponsored retreats and conventions.

Preparing Our Hearts for Lent
The Service of Diminishing Lights. Each Lenten season the ladies of our congregation gather for a special worship service in preparation of lent. The worship service is followed by a catered soup and salad dinner.

Prayer Shawl/Blanket Ministry
WELCA sponsors a prayer shawl ministry of beautifully hand crafted pieces to be given to individuals going through difficult times. Each shawl or blanket is a gift of unconditional love for friends. Many blessings are prayed into each piece by its creator as they reach out to those needing comfort and solace as well as in celebration and joy. Each item is personally delivered and includes a lovely card and explanation about the ministry.

Spring Tea
The annual Spring Tea is a ladies afternoon at the McHenry Country Club. The ladies and friends of our congregation join in lunch, tea, fellowship and fun! Each year a different guest speaker or program is offered. It's time to get out those beautiful hats and join us for high tea!
