Recent Highlights & Updates

2020 ANNUAL MEETING will begin Saturday, Jan. 25th at the 4:30pm worship service & will conclude on Sunday, Jan. 26th at the end of the 10:45am worship service.  The annual report & agenda for the meeting will be available no later than Saturday, Jan. 18th at 4:30pm.  Everyone is encouraged & invited to attend!

*NEW* WEEKLY PRAYER MEETING: You're invited to join us during this 2020 season at our new weekly prayer meeting!  We'll pray for those on our prayer list, joys & concerns, & anything brought forward by participants.  Our first meeting was this past Wednesday, January 8th, & meetings will continue to take place every Wednesday at 6:30pm (between our "Church Night" Dinner at 6pm & any program taking place at 7pm).

SUNDAY STEWARDS: We are looking for ushers, greeters, liturgists, & communion assistants for 2020!  We will be putting sign-up inserts in future worship bulletins.  Please fill these out & return them to our office or put them in the offering plates.  There will be a training session scheduled for some time in January - stay tuned!  You may also call the church office at (815) 385-4030 if interested in serving - we'd love to have you on board!

FIRST WEDNESDAY FELLOWSHIP will not meet in January or February.  The next meeting will be on Wednesday, March 4th.

ABUNDANT LIVING: We are excited to officially introduce the Shepherd of the Hills "Abundant Living Ministry."  The goal of ALM is to teach us how to take Jesus up on this promise of an abundant life.  This ministry will help us discover - and learn how to embrace - the crazy abundance of life that is available to each of us when we learn to abide with Jesus in every aspect of our lives: Spiritual, Social/Interpersonal, Environmental, Emotional, Physical, Intellectual, Financial, and Vocational.  We'll kick 2020 off with a "30 minutes for 30 days" challenge to align with New Year's resolutions of "getting in better shape."  We'll also introduce the "Mission of the Week" - ideas on taking Jesus out of the weekend service and into our everyday lives.  Look for details in our upcoming "Weekly Buzz" e-newsletters.

Mission of the Week, for Jan. 12th: "Let it Go!"  Ask God to forgive you for some guilt you've been hanging on to.  Believe that He is faithful in his forgiveness, then forgive yourself & Let it Go!
